Outage Monitoring

24/7

What is PowerProtect?

PowerProtect is a parametric monitoring plan, not an insurance policy. It monitors the enrolled business location around the clock and releases a payout you choose in advance when a qualifying outage of 72 hours or more is verified. The monitoring and payout service is provided by Centinel, a company specializing in parametric monitoring solutions.

Power outages interrupt operations, reduce revenue, spoil inventory, and create unexpected recovery costs. Because the payout is triggered by objective outage data rather than an itemized loss, you do not have to document every dollar of loss before the funds are released. Up to three payouts are available during an annual plan period.

Why does it matter?

01

Keeps your business moving

An extended power outage can halt sales, disrupt service, and leave employees and customers waiting.

02

Protects cash flow

You choose your payout amount upfront and can use it to help cover urgent costs while revenue is interrupted.

03

Responds without a traditional claim

The plan uses objective outage data to identify and verify a qualifying outage, so you do not have to document every dollar of loss before receiving a benefit.

04

Supports the recovery you choose

Use the funds wherever your business needs them most, such as payroll, temporary operations, inventory replacement, equipment rental, or other recovery expenses.

How does it work?

Three steps, and only one of them involves you.

You select your payout amount

Choose the payout level that fits your business: $5,000, $10,000, $25,000, or $50,000 per qualifying outage event.

Outage detected automatically

PowerProtect monitors the enrolled business location 24/7 and uses objective third-party utility and monitoring data to identify qualifying extended outages.

Payout issued

When a qualifying outage is detected, Centinel notifies you and asks you to complete a short Power Interrupt Report. Once you attest that the outage occurred, the payout you selected is released, with no claims adjudication.

Why would a business need this?

Extended outages create costs that existing coverage may not reach.

Outages can happen without warning

Every year, millions of US businesses lose power for 72 hours or more due to severe weather, equipment failures, and grid disruptions.

Traditional insurance may not cover the full impact

Lost sales, temporary operating costs, and other outage-related expenses may fall outside existing coverage, or below its deductible.

Small interruptions can create large expenses

Spoiled inventory, idle employees, missed appointments, and emergency equipment can quickly strain cash flow.

Recovery requires immediate flexibility

PowerProtect sends the payout amount you chose so you can cover the needs that matter most to your business.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PowerProtect insurance?

No. PowerProtect is a parametric monitoring plan, which means payouts are triggered by objective outage data rather than by filing claims or proving losses.

What triggers the payout?

A verified power outage that meets predefined criteria, based on independent third-party utility and monitoring data. Centinel monitors for outages and initiates a payout when one lasts 72 hours or more.

Do I need to file a claim?

There is no claims-adjustment process. When Centinel detects an outage that may have lasted 72 hours or more, it notifies you and asks you to complete a Power Interrupt Report. The payout is sent once you attest that you experienced the qualifying outage.

What payout amounts can I choose?

You can choose a payout of $5,000, $10,000, $25,000, or $50,000 per event, with a maximum of three payouts per annual plan period.

How can the payout be used?

You can spend the payout on whatever is needed to keep the business operating, such as payroll, temporary operations, inventory replacement, or equipment rental.

Why is the trigger threshold 72 hours?

PowerProtect is designed to respond to prolonged outages that create meaningful financial disruption. A 72-hour threshold keeps the protection focused and affordable while providing support when recovery costs and lost revenue become more significant.

Who provides the monitoring and payout service?

The monitoring and payout service is provided by Centinel, a company specializing in parametric monitoring solutions.
